Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of the wordLoot website, Chrome extension, and related services (the “Service”). Please read them before using the Service.
Effective July 22, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
wordLoot provides language-learning tools for learners watching anime on Crunchyroll, including Japanese subtitle overlays, active listening prompts, vocabulary collection, and review tools. We do not provide access to any video or audiovisual content.
Crunchyroll
Japanese transcribed subtitles (time-synced to video and matching the original spoken dialogue), where not officially available on Crunchyroll, may be provided by wordLoot strictly for educational use. These subtitles may be sourced from publicly available repositories where users upload them for community and educational purposes. wordLoot does not sell these subtitles. The Service does not provide access to Crunchyroll video content or bypass any Crunchyroll paywalls. A valid Crunchyroll account and legal access to the content you watch remain your responsibility.
Free features
Some features may be available without a paid subscription, subject to change. Availability can depend on account status and product updates.
Paid tier (wordLoot Premium)
Advanced features — such as active listening, romaji display, synced word bag, flashcards, quizzes, and progress tracking — are available through a paid subscription.
3. User-Generated and Third-Party Content
Some subtitles or content may originate from third parties or users. By using the Service, you acknowledge:
- Subtitles and learning tools are for educational and personal use only.
- You may not use the Service to infringe copyright or other rights.
- Rights holders may contact us at info@getwordloot.com to request removal of content.
4. Copyright Policy (DMCA)
We respect intellectual property rights and respond promptly to takedown requests in compliance with applicable law, including the DMCA where it applies. Submit claims to info@getwordloot.com.
5. Payment, Billing, and Refunds
- Subscription billing. Paid features are billed on a recurring monthly basis through Stripe.
- Cancellations. You may cancel at any time via the Stripe customer portal; access to paid features remains until the end of your current billing period.
- Refunds. Refunds are provided at our discretion and in accordance with applicable law. This does not affect your statutory rights. For refund requests, contact info@getwordloot.com.
6. Restrictions
You may not:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security or access-control features.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service in a way that harms wordLoot or its users.
- Resell, redistribute, or publicly rehost subtitle data obtained through the Service.
7. No Affiliation
wordLoot is not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by Crunchyroll, Sony, or any anime content provider. All trademarks and copyrights are the property of their respective owners.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. As a Chrome extension, the Service relies on and interacts with third-party websites and services over which we have no control. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or availability of any content obtained through the Service. Because third-party websites may change their functionality, structure, or availability at any time, we cannot and do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service. 10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by email, website notice, or other reasonable means. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
12. Lawful Use of Content
The extension is intended to be used only with content that has been legally obtained by the user.
